Abstract

Impatiens toppinii Dunn (Balsaminaceae) is reported herein as a new distributional record and contribution to the flora of Nagaland in Northeast India. Previously, the species was known only from Myanmar and Arunachal Pradesh. During floristic surveys in the Zunheboto and Mokokchung districts, specimens were collected and identified through detailed morphological examination and comparison with known taxonomic literature and verified herbarium specimens. This study confirms its occurrence in Nagaland for the first time, based on field collections and authenticated voucher specimens deposited in the Herbarium of the Department of Botany, Nagaland University. Diagnostic morphological traits, habitat details and colour photographs are provided to facilitate accurate identification.
