Common mistakes for rejection of manuscripts

  1. Title of the submitted article has regional labels - The article should be captivating and engaging for the worldwide scientific community. It is important to refrain from using any terminology in the article title that may hold significance only at a regional or local level.
  2. Details of all authors are not included in the submission portal - Please ensure that all authors are included in the submission portal. For example, if your manuscript comprises 5 authors, you must enter the individual details of each author after uploading the submission files when submitting the manuscript.
  3. The manuscript was prepared not using the PST MS template (download 'PST MS template').
  4. MS details file not uploaded (download 'MS details' template)
  5. Wrong first page - In most cases authors' names and affiliations are included in the 1st page of the manuscript which is not required.
  6. Article components - Including Acknowledgements, Authors contributions and Ethical Statements in the manuscript file is wrong. These sections are to be included in the MS details file.
  7. Reference citation within the text follows Author Year format which is wrong. Instead PST journal follows Vancouver format where numbers in brackets are used - e.g. (1), (1, 2), (1-4).
  8. References are sorted alphabetically and hence Reference no. 1 can be found somewhere in the manuscript which is wrong. References are to be cited in the text starting from 1. That means, reference number 1 usually appears in the Introduction and the reference citation continues sequentially. Hence, DO NOT SORT references alphabetically.
  9. The reference list is not properly formatted as per journal style.
